At Ellipsis Construction, we know that great projects start with great people. Every summer, we’re proud to welcome interns who are eager to learn, contribute, and experience commercial construction firsthand.
This year, three University of Denver students joined our team, bringing different backgrounds but a shared curiosity for how commercial projects come together. Over the past several weeks, they’ve traded classrooms for jobsites, participated in project meetings, coordinated with subcontractors, reviewed drawings, and discovered that no two days in construction are ever the same.
We asked Chad, Larissa, and Robert to share a little about their experience.
Meet the Team
Chad Teger
Education: Graduate Student | Real Estate & the Built Environment (Construction Project Management)
Short Introduction: “I’m a U.S. Army veteran with a background in finance and accounting who decided to transition into commercial construction and real estate. I came into the internship wanting to understand how projects move from drawings and estimates into the field, and I’ve enjoyed being able to apply my previous residential experience while learning a completely new side of the business on a larger scale.”
Larissa Garfio-Pereyra
Education: Construction Management | University of Denver
Short Introduction: “I’m someone who loves spending quality time with the people I care about, traveling, and experiencing new places and cultures. I’m naturally curious and enjoy learning from the people around me, whether it’s through work, school, or everyday life. I always try to bring a positive attitude, work hard, and continue growing as both a person and a future professional.”
Robert Kamarali
Education: B.S.B.A. Finance | University of Denver
Short Introduction: “I bring a finance background to the world of construction management. I enjoy working with numbers but have a passion and background in the construction industry, as a previous member of the ACE Mentor Program. Outside of work, I like to stay active. Whether working out in the gym, or playing sports, I enjoy friendly competition. I am excited to bring my uplifting energy and analytical mindset to the team.”
What Does an Internship at Ellipsis Actually Look Like?
Spoiler alert…
It isn’t spending the summer watching from the sidelines.
Our interns quickly become part of the project team, balancing time between the office and the field while learning how commercial projects move from concept to completion.
Although no two days are exactly alike, all three interns agreed that’s one of the best parts of the job.
On any given day, you might find them:
- Reviewing construction drawings in Bluebeam
- Walking active jobsites with project managers and owners
- Tracking punch-list items
- Coordinating with subcontractors
- Creating bid packages and submittals
- Managing project documentation in Procore
- Attending project meetings and Lunch & Learns

“I wanted an internship where I could actually contribute instead of just observing. Being part of a smaller team has given me exposure to estimating, project coordination, subcontractors, and active projects from start to finish.”
Larissa
“I was drawn to Ellipsis because of its collaborative culture and the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a commercial general contractor. It felt like a place where I could learn while making meaningful contributions.”
Robert
“Ellipsis was the perfect bridge between my finance background and my interest in construction. Working on a smaller team has allowed me to gain hands-on experience in many different areas.”
Relationships
We noticed one common theme that each intern mentioned about their time with Ellipsis was the relationships they have made. At Ellipsis, relationships is one of our three core values, so we’re happy to see the value reflected in the intern class.

One of the things we’re most proud of at Ellipsis Construction is creating opportunities for students to experience commercial construction beyond the classroom. Internships here aren’t about watching from the sidelines—they’re about becoming part of the team, taking on meaningful work, and learning through real-world experience.
We’re grateful for the energy, curiosity, and dedication Chad, Robert, and Larissa have brought to our projects this summer. Watching them grow has been rewarding, and we’re excited to see where their careers lead next.
